With this ticket to the KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona Photo Center, you'll visit a space that understands photography as a way to promote creativity and cultural dynamism in the Catalan capital, with the help of a handy audio guide in English.
It has two exhibition halls, a bookstore, an area for educational activities, and a multipurpose auditorium. Do you want to know why it has become a national and international reference in the field of photography? This exhibition hall is located in one of the most iconic buildings of modern Barcelona: the MAPFRE Tower, located in the beautiful area of Port Olímpic.
In addition to exhibitions, the KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona Photo Center offers educational programs, training for new talents, conferences, workshops, international photographic awards, and a host of interesting activities.

Dana Lixenberg (Amsterdam, 1964) is one of the most important figures in contemporary documentary photography. Her work, developed mainly in the United States, is known for its up-close gaze, free of stereotypes, that covers topics such as inequality, identity, and resilience.
Organized in collaboration with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP), the exhibition collects some of her most significant projects, from Imperial Courts, which started after the 1992 protests in Los Angeles, to her portraits in Jeffersonville (Indiana) and Shishmaref (Alaska), covering over three decades of artwork focused on marginalized communities, pop culture figures, and social landscapes.
The sixth edition of the yearly event from KBr Fundación MAPFRE features new generations of photographers who started their professional careers after completing their training in Barcelona. The exhibition collects the artworks by Sara Bravo, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Meghan Mathews, and Luca Gaetano Pira, four young authors who use personal experiences to cover universal topics. Its projects combine documentary photography and staging to explore the visibility and struggles of the LGBTIQA+ community, as well as family heritage and memory.
